I'm having a ground-glass-in-the-hip joint day, for reasons which utterly pass understanding. It's not the place it usually hurts, and it's not the usual sensation - it's more like it used to feel ten years ago.

I am not jumping to conclusions that something is horribly wrong. I am not.

In other news, my SiteMeter for Respectful of Otters was down over the weekend, and I found it dreadfully wounding to the ego. Especially before I figured out that the problem was SiteMeter, and not a dramatic falloff in popularity. Clearly I need to find sounder bases for my self-esteem.

are you guys having crappy weather as well? it's wet and cold here, and my hip wants to make sure i know that. hello! hello! wet and cold! wet and cold! just in case you weren't certain! it says.

I would wave at in you in empathy but my arthritis is playing up and my shoulders are doing the 'gravel in the works' feeling. So instead I will nod sadly and say 'ook'.

And if I have not said so lately, your blog totally rocks.

Ignore this at will, of course, but I'm going to recommend to you to see a doctor about the hip. Because it could be something bad, yes, but mostly because you WILL WORRY if you don't.

And I can totally empathize with the ego issues over the Sitemeter thing. For future reference: falloffs in popularity don't happen like that. :-)

I checked Respectful of Otters for the first time since last Tuesday (I usually check every day, but between my trip to LA and dealing with stuff once I got back, I haven't been on the computer much) and found that comment posting was disabled. Is there a particular reason for that?

Perhaps one of the advantages of lj is the absence of site meters.

You *can* get a sitemeter for your LJ, actually. But I'm not going to tell you how, if you think not having one is an advantage. :-)

You could always just print off a few of the comments you get here saying "Rivka Rocks" and stick 'em to the wall...

Cod liver oil.

Well, it helps me when I have ground glass in the hip, and it can't do any harm.

One of the few things that actually helped my leg medically was spending several hours in an orthopaedic waiting room with lots of other people with undiagnosed leg problems and swapping folk remedies and laughing about how much pain hurts. Cod liver oil, which comes in tasteless capsules these days. was suggested to me by a little old lady in a wheelchair, and it's been doing me good ever since.

Of course, that assumes that the walls (and the owner thereof) can handle having comments stuck to them. Although you could use those easel-pad-size Post-It(TM) notes (http://www.3m.com/us/office/postit/products_easel_pads.jhtml).
But that gives me an idea for a new Web service: something that scans your LJ's or blog's comments for honest praise and serves it back to you. Rivka would make a great test case, what with both a good LJ and a great blog...

Thirding the recommendation may be silly, but I'll do it anyway.

I'm sorry your hip hurts and I hope you find out why.
