(no subject)
Sep. 27th, 2002 11:29 amNo update last night because I was feeling down.
I ran two subjects yesterday and another rescheduled because of illness. I scheduled one new subject. I didn't get names from Pediatrics, because they hadn't gotten all the details ironed out yet. They've promised me names today. I'm fretting about that because I'd been hoping to schedule some subjects for the weekend, and I think it's unlikely that I'll be able to do that if I can't start calling until the end of the day on Friday. Argh. I've only got one subject scheduled for today, and no more until Monday. At this rate, to meet my targets I'll need to run three subjects a day next week. Not schedule three a day, but actually complete them. I don't know if I'll be able to do that.
One day at a time, I guess.
I woke up this morning with a raging sore throat. No cold symptoms, just a sore throat, swollen glands, and fatigue. The Daily Iowan had an article a couple of days ago about an unusual outbreak of strep throat on campus. So. I called Blue Cross of Maryland and worked through the red tape involved in seeing a doctor out-of-state. I have a 3:30 appointment in the Family Practice department, and a referral from my primary care doctor which ought to ensure that my health plan will cover the visit. If all goes well, I'll be on penicillin by 4:30, and feeling better by tomorrow.
Maybe it's providential that I'm lightly scheduled for the next couple of days. I'll be able to get some rest and limit the possibility of contaigion. And days that I'm not running subjects can certainly be spent writing. I told Lydia I'd start putting together some bits of text for the prevention grant. I want to do a little work on the introduction to my dissertation. It's not time wasted.
I just wish I couldn't hear that ticking clock.
