E-mail sent to my advisor today:
Hi John,
I'm attaching a draft of the discussion section. It's pretty rough in terms of the writing, but all of the ideas are there. You might want to scan it quickly for content and wait for the next draft to make comments on style.
Do you have any sections you can send me with comments? My defense is in five weeks, and I haven't heard from you on anything but the figures. (I'm glad you liked them.) I'm concerned about having enough time to make thorough revisions. Of course, I'm finding things I want to revise based on my own re-reading of earlier sections, but your comments really are critical.
Thanks,
Rebecca
I'm really glad that I've gotten the last section written. I'll be going back in and adding things, making changes, possibly even inserting whole new paragraphs - but there won't be any new sections. My first draft is done. But for God's sake, John needs to get back to me with comments on the parts I've already sent him. I gave him the current draft of the Introduction section in October.
