(no subject)
Jan. 16th, 2004 05:09 pmThis morning, when I left for work, it was colder in Baltimore than on Mars.
I dragged my Iowa parka out of the cedar closet in the attic and wore it to work, along with my boots and my silk long johns and jeans and a tightly-knit wool sweater and my heavy fleece-lined pleather gloves. I couldn't find my scarf, but the hood of my parka has a wind protector that velcros together to shield my neck and the lower half of my face. I wish to point out that the need to dress like this in the winter was a major reason why I left Iowa in the first place.
I have subsequently discovered that the world does not end if I see research subjects while wearing jeans. I suspected not, but have always obediently dressed in professional clothing even when it was fucking freezing.
Some might say that the reason I am so tired and vaguely ill right now is that my lunch consisted solely of two pieces of cake. But at least it was good cake.
Off to wait at the bus stop, brr.
