I'm cooking a little more like I used to, these days. Right now I've got tuna steaks marinating in olive oil, cumin, lime juice, salt, and pepper, and I made a big fresh bowl of mango-pineapple salsa to have with them.

Also, it finally occurred to me that I don't have to eat out of the freezer on Friday nights just because Michael is gaming. So I've invited some friends over for dinner. We're going to have spinach enchiladas with Swiss cheese and sour cream sauce, homemade guacamole, and brownies for dessert. This is especially notable in that all Michael would eat from that menu is the brownies.

Lydia and I were talking yesterday about a NIMH-sponsored conference about adherence to HIV medicines, which is being held in Jersey City in March. We were both manifestly unenthusiastic about it even as we both admitted that probably someone should go. Then I had a bright idea: "Why don't we send Greta?" She's our RA who will soon be on her way to medical school, and she's done most of the work on our current adherence study. It turns out that she would love to go to Jersey City in March on the lab's dollar, and of course at her academic level it will be a really good professional experience to go to a conference and give a poster. So now I feel all benificent. I spent a long time on the phone with her today, helping her write the abstract.

On the second try, I finally found jeans that fit. Sadly, they only sent one pair instead of the two I ordered. The nice lady at Lands' End has arranged for me to get free shipping on the other half of the order, but still: argh.
