I bought a dress yesterday for
ladysprite's wedding.
Um.
At Motherhood Maternity.
I think it's very pretty, but, um, it's a maternity dress. The kind they sell for pregnant women. There was a pillow in the dressing room, with a velcro strap so you could see how your clothes would look a few months down the line.
Uh.

Date: 2004-09-15 08:40 am (UTC)Although I am frequently surprised by how reasonable their prices are for that kind of thing. And happily, it's not your mother's maternity mumu.
Today I am wearing a really nice knit two-piece outfit with a square neckline that I just love. And it's comfy like pjs.

Date: 2004-09-15 08:40 am (UTC)The other way to buy pregnancy clothes is to look in shops selling clothes for immigrants from India and Pakistan, because those dresses and saris can be worn up to the moment of giving birth while continuing to look good.

Date: 2004-09-15 08:55 am (UTC)I didn't see this last night but went to bed at 11. I don't know what could have happened -- you didn't actually set it 'private'? (Even so, if you were logged in, you should have been able to see it on friends' pages.)

Date: 2004-09-15 08:55 am (UTC)You're tall enough that it doesn't make sense for me to beg you for hand-me-down maternity clothes goodness, aren't you? Alas.

It's *all* good! :>

Date: 2004-09-15 11:53 am (UTC)Oops. Didn't you get the memo? It said, "Dear Rivka, You are pregnant."
I'm working this week with a woman who is 37 weeks along. Every time I maneuver around her belly (~ every 2.4 minutes) I think about you being that huge and looking that gorgeous in a few months.

Shocking!

Date: 2004-09-17 06:36 am (UTC)Motherwear is your friend. Or will be. (Motherhood makes a shirt that dropped my boob out in public last week. I'm never wearing it again.)
There's a gazillion maternity designer boutiques here; DC must be packed with 'em, too.

Date: 2004-09-19 02:35 pm (UTC)I think they've put the word "Motherhood" in the name because that word makes pregnant women weepy and sentimental, which then opens our pocketbooks wide.
When people who know I'm pregnant greet me with "Hey, mommy!", there's a moment when I can't even speak, I'm so bowled over. My eyes fill with tears. I am completely under the thrall of pregnancy hormones. The word "motherhood" gets me the same way.
(I can't imagine what my childfree friends must be thinking of me right now! You're very patient to even be reading these posts.)

Date: 2004-09-22 07:34 pm (UTC)And I completely missed this announcement, so, congratulations! I wish you a comfortable and easy pregnancy and a serene delivery.
I would wish you a comfortable delivery, but birth & comfortable aren't all that compatable...:)
