Oh, that was cool! My linguistics class is teaching me about language rules, so I'm listening for what Alex has, and she doesn't have the rule that lets her make "Alex's" yet! She says "Alek'z" right at the end. It's obviously distinct from "Alex" but it's not quite right yet. *bounce*

She looks SO happy. And how wonderful that she already knows you need a whisk to make salad - for the homemade dressing, obviously. :) What a great gift.

We did presents before breakfast, because there wouldn't have been any way to get her to ignore the new kitchen long enough to eat and get dressed first.

In fact, it was hard to get her to do anything else, all day long. She didn't even want to go to playgroup. Yay, kitchen!

That's funny. I re-watched the video, and you're right - she wasn't saying "Alex's." In other contexts, she's been saying it properly for months. I wonder if her use has always been intermittent, or if this is one of those instances where a temporary language regression is really a sign of progress - like when she went from saying "feet" to "foots."
