Simmering away on the stove is a sauce made from equal parts marsala wine and chicken broth, plus the residua of the chicken and vegetables just sauteed in the pan.

On the counter waiting for the sauce is a baking dish containing browned pounded-flat chicken breasts, topped with sauteed mushrooms and red bell peppers, topped with grated mozzerella and parmesan cheese.

On the dining room table, waiting for dinner to be done so we can pop it in the VCR, is a videotape that has come to us all the way from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. It holds four West Wing episodes I have never seen.

In my inbox is mail from the journal editors who requested the invited paper, in which they say things like "should be required reading in the field" and "brilliant analysis" and "very fine argument."

Life is good.

Life is, indeed, good.

There was a lovely lunch this afternoon too, as I recall.

Enjoy!

Yay! The tape got there! Don't forget to send me your, um, impressions. :-) And I can't fully guarantee that all of the episodes made it on the tape; the final part of that was made in my sleep, and I just let it run. So if it cuts off in the middle of something cool, don't fret; I'll just send you another tape.

And wooooow on the article. You amaze me so much.

*grin* Leftovers? What on earth makes you think there were leftovers?

We've been on an absolute West Wing-watching binge. Yesterday I said, "So, why don't we watch "What Kind of Day Has It Been" and then we'll watch this week's episode, and then we can watch the two-part season opener on Friday." Heh. We watched "In the Shadow of Two Gunmen" last night. This evening we watched "The Leadership Breakfast." (Didn't the label say it was supposed to be "The Drop-In?" That had certainly made sense to me because of your stories...) It looks like there might be still another episode on the tape - "In This White House" - but I suppose it might cut off.

Here's the part you're waiting for: At the critical scenes we both looked at each other and said, "Ah, that's what Jennie was talking about." Yes. You're not inventing the subtext. It seemed... self-evident. Other impressions: my God, John Spencer and Bradley Whitford can act. The scene where Leo is dressing Josh down, about the pilot- just the sheer amount conveyed in body language in that scene. I was utterly emotionally transported by these episodes. Thank you.

So if it cuts off in the middle of something cool, don't fret; I'll just send you another tape.

Whoa. Careful; you don't know what you might be getting into here. :-)

Thank you! I hope you're having a wonderful time at ap8.
