I'm another who is bothered by the negativeness of the fifth circle. I think I'd express it more generally as the role of sex and sexuality in (any given) society/culture. The ease with which you can think of negative and not positive examples says more about the place of sex in US culture, perhaps?
In one way, I regard the OWL course itself as a positive example in the fifth circle - you're helping to create a generation that will perhaps think differently about sexuality and where it fits overall in society. The course is making a statement about where sex can/should fit in people's lives.
