Jun. 27th, 2009 10:07 amI work very hard at having a positive view of humanity, and recognizing the inherent worth and dignity of all people. I continually fall short, but I do work hard at it.
And then I read about the people who are making hate calls to the family of one of the DC Metrorail crash victims, because just from seeing her name and skin color in the newspaper they've decided that she must be an illegal immigrant. Who, they apparently fear, has unjustly stolen a death that could've belonged to a decent white American citizen.
And all I can think of is, man. People suck.

Date: 2009-06-27 02:35 pm (UTC)On the other hand, when I had a wipeout on my bicycle this morning, two people stopped to ask if I was okay, and when I went to a nearby Dunkin Donuts parking lot to check out the bike's condition, a biker (motorcycle variety) helped me straighten out the handlebars and re-adjust the seat.
So yes, there is some random kindness to balance the suckitude.
