WOW--I missed all this and I'm kind of glad! it's the sort of thing it's better to hear about afterwards when things seem to be ok. So glad it's not worse.
(our ceiling collapsed in two different rooms when I was a kid, in a house of similar age. One collapse missed my 7-year-old brother by seconds, but I've never heard of a direct hit!)
