Twenty-seven hours from now, we'll be in Edmonton. A last-minute check of the weather report caused some last-minute revision of my mental packing list - no shorts or sandals, for a start - and now I'm obsessing about whether I've got everything I'll want. We're leaving from work, which complicates things slightly in that I'll need to fly in dress clothes instead of jeans and sneakers. And warm clothes take up a lot of suitcase space. Misha tends to overpack, I tend to underpack. This time, I feel like I'm leaving huge numbers of things out.

Seven short-sleeved shirts, as layers or in case it warms up.
Five long-sleeved shirts, mostly suitable as either first or second layers.
Two flannel shirts.
Two sweaters (one in my carry-on).
Waterproof flannel-lined jacket.
Three pairs of jeans.
Sneakers.

Long-sleeved dress.
Vest capable of turning one of the long-sleeved shirts or one of the short-sleeved shirts into a dress-up option.
Black slacks, also for dress-up.
Black heels.

Silk long underwear for sleeping in.
Bathrobe.
Enough underwear and socks (+ two extra in carry-on, in case they lose my luggage).
Tights to wear with dress.
Swimsuit, just in case somewhere a hot tub crosses our path.

Three books (two in carry-on).
Two games - Set and Fluxx.
Needlework in carry-on, scissors packed separately in checked luggage.
Blank videotapes for copying West Wing episodes.
Small gift for Jennie, with small gift bag to put it in.

Standard things from the bathroom, including medicines.

Standard things from my purse, including my Palm Pilot (complete with an additional novel, some puzzles, and the addresses of people who might want postcards).

Tickets. (Paper tickets - what a novelty. They wouldn't issue international e-tickets.)
My birth certificate. My expired passport, as supplementary ID. Misha's passport.

Tomorrow's dinner, because airlines don't feed you anymore:
Plain bagels.
Smoked salmon cream cheese.
Single-serving cans of fruit (fruit cocktail for Misha, mandarin oranges for me).
Cinnaraisins.
Cookies.
Napkins, flimsy plastic knife, flimsy plastic spoons.

What have I left out?

Well, the shorts, for one thing. Unless you're okay with wearing jeans if it *does* get hot. The weather is completely unpredictable this year, and you should really be ready for *anything*.

Soon! *bounce*

I'm comfortable in jeans as long as it's below 90, but I'll throw in a pair of shorts just in case. Thanks!

It'll probably be below 90 (it's pretty unusual for it to get that warm here for more than a week), but given that we had about a month of above-90 temperatures this summer, I think you're best off not taking the chance.

Silk long underwear for sleeping in.

(No, no - I love sleeping in silk long underwear. That's all. Honestly.)

Are you planning on lots of walking/tourist things? Might want second pair of sneakers / walking shoes to balance out blisters if need be.

Pack extra needlework needles in checked luggage incase for some reason they confiscate your needles.

Printed out copy of flight and phone numbers incase Palm Pilot dies

Other things on my pack list that you might want
Camera
film
belts
ziplock bag for swimsuit if have to pack it damp
femme products - since traveling always messes up schedules
