I'm reminded of one of my father's maxims: A Cadillac is a poor man's ideal car. Why? Because (at least during the 50's and 60's) they ran forever, required only minimal maintenance, and could be had used with low mileage since the rich folks traded them in every year.
It's easy to adopt a thought pattern which served well in the past, but maybe doesn't now.
