As a resident in the ABC2 viewing area, I am outraged that you have
chosen to rebroadcast a movie tonight instead of showing the
Presidential debate live from South Carolina.
Networks are granted use of the public airwaves in return for a pledge
to provide programming that serves the public interest. It is
therefore your responsibility to cover key political events, in order
to allow the widest possible segment of the population to educate
themselves about the upcoming election. Instead, our only recourse to
view the debate will be the small and obscure cable channel CSPAN,
well after the debate takes place.
I deplore your failure to broadcast this important public event, and
intend to avoid ABC2 in the future.

I sent a copy of this to my other local ABC affiliate, WJLA-TV in Washington. I can't believe these yahoos think a rebroadcast of Gladiator is more important to the public interest than the first presidential debate. They sure as hell find time to show saturation coverage of Bush-favorable events.
