What would my life look like if I were living with more intentionality?

Much the same, but a slightly slower pace and more mindfulness.

You'd make that phone call.

Sheesh, I seem to be deadpan humor and technology impaired tonight.

I don't think it'd look a lot different. You might have completed the PhD already, though I don't think the delays in that have had much to do with your intent.

A bathtub filled with brightly-colored East German machine tools.

I usually associate this kind of question with regular folks who (quite reasonably) are very focused on improving their own lives and those of the people in their immediate circle, perhaps with more guidance by intertia than anything else. That really is not you. Your primary vocation is helping people. You think about why you do what you do quite consistently, and make decisions that are in line with your values. That, to me, is the core of the definition of intentionality.

You seem to be mistaking my job for my life.

It would be intent colored?

The first thing that went through my mind when I read the question is: has Rivka been captured by the Landmark Forum?

It is the sort of imposing sounding question they seem to like to ask.

No, I'm not making fun of the question: just saying (in long-winded fashion) that I have No Fscking Idea.

I was thinking something like, "I'd guess it would contain more jargon". . . .

An apology

Hey, Rivka. I'm sorry if my comment sounded like I was mocking you; honest to ghu, I wasn't.

Handwork? Dinner with friends? The flute?

I don't have enough fingers or arm flexibility to play the flute, but handwork and dinner with friends are definitely on the list.

I think that's an essential, central question for many of us. In fact, I'll probably do an LJ entry on the topic, when I'm more awake and have a little more time to write. My general impression is that, for me, it would be very, very much like my life already, only better--more responsible to others, more enjoyment for myself. More planning and fewer things done in a worried flurry at the last minute. More investment in things that I *know* will make me feel better long-term, but are easy to "not have time for" on a day-to-day basis, like exercise and cooking good meals with lots of vegetables. Less Red Queen running as fast as I can to stay in the same place, because less depressive time spent inert & hence getting behind. Thanks for asking the question on LJ!
