Disney earworm time.
Jul. 16th, 2003 05:56 pmFrom fourth through seventh grade, my best friend was a girl named Kirsten. We did everything together - I was a child of few, but very intense, friendships - until she moved to Montana the summer after seventh grade. We visited each other a couple of times, and wrote letters for a while after that, but eventually lost contact.
(The losing contact part was all my fault - most of you probably already know what a lousy correspondent I am. She wrote me, but I was... not good at writing back.)
So, apparently Kirsten has a friend named
sanj. And
sanj is friends with
therealjae. And
therealjae left a comment in this entry in
sanj's journal, which pointed to this entry in
therealjae's journal, and Kirsten saw my userpic appended to one of my comments, and it happened to be one of the pics that's actually a picture of me, as opposed to a stuffed squirrel or a presidential candidate or a dove, and apparently I look just as I did in the ninth grade, because she recognized me and wrote me an e-mail.
What makes it even odder is that, although
sanj and I apparently have a lot of shared interests, we have exactly two LJ Friends in common. There's not much social overlap at all.
therealjae just happened to link to a thread I'd commented on - and if she hadn't, Kirsten never would've found me.
How random is that?
