Thank you. Dreadful is a very good word. However, that IS where he came from and he never did intend to stay. I've succeeded in making him feel very strange about leaving, but I don't quite stack up against 11-year friendships, parents he's worried about, a five-year-old and a twenty-year-old nephew, and, well, just California.

I still recall your very moving entry when Ben left. That's going to happen to me, I thought. And now it is.
