I'm bitter about having to spend my Sunday afternoon at the office, even though it's my own fault for not pushing harder on our latest grant application during the week.

Whose freaking idea was it for our grant to be due the week before my dissertation is due? I'm just asking. It doesn't seem like the best of plans.

Fortunately, curiousangel is on his way to pick me up and bring me home. Yay for not having to walk to the light rail in our exciting world of fierce intermittent rain squalls. I went to the hospital cafeteria around 1:30 to pick up some food for lunch and carry it back to the office. In the ten minutes I was inside, it absolutely poured and then cleared up again - blue skies and all. Now it appears to be raining more steadily, foiling my plan to cook dinner on the grill. Grr.

In cheerful news, my man Howard Dean is the cover story in Time and Newsweek this week, as well as having a small inset picture on the cover of U.S. News and World Report and having a front-page story in the Washington Post. Also, he's leading polls in the first caucus/primary states of New Hampshire and Iowa, although still within the margin of error. Isn't it about time you climbed on the bandwagon?

well, to each their own in the primary. I hope you'll support the Democratic nominee in the general election, though.

If the alternative is Bush, I may. Or I may lodge a protest vote if it looks like the Democrats will carry CA. Depends on who the Dem nominee is.

I have much sympathy about the grant application-it's been insanity all week in my office; several applications went out this week, and of course we played "whose turn is it to wait for the Fed Ex guy?" (Sadly our Fed Ex guy is no where near as cute as our UPS guy...who happens to have an equally cute twin brother. They're often paired together in December when they double up to deliver all the packages. Kind of fun.)

And as for the rain...ick. I didn't fertilize yesterday, I was too busy on a laundry rampage, so I wait til today to water and fertilize everything, especially the outdoor plants and as I'm finishing up, it starts raining. I think its started again too, which makes me glad I got all the groceries inside the house already.
