(2) She brought a really good bottle of wine to watch the Democratic candidates' debate with me this evening.

(3) curiousangel's mother sent me a beautiful copper-and-silver bracelet as a graduation present.

(4) Mikhail sent me Godiva chocolates as a graduation present. The solid assortment, which is 99% allergy safe.

(5) Mmmmm, sushi.

And now, I should have some sort of dinner-type thing to soak up the half-bottle of really good wine I have consumed this evening. (tammylc, how the heck are you going to make it through nine months without wine?)

When you first posted about your successful defense I called Mikhail at work to pass along the news. He was, I assure you, inordinately pleased.

And a day or so later he announced we needed to make a run to the mall wherein the Holy Purveyor of Godiva exists to pick up the golden box with the assortment he knew wouldn't trigger your allergies. So, evidently he'd been pondering what an appropriate giftie would be all on his own. Isn't he sweet?

By the way, I blame you and your pal up North for my latest addiction. I am watching West Wing on Bravo and it's All Your Fault. Thankyou, I think.

I did 12 months without wine, 9 while pregnant and 3 while lactating, and then when I did have a glass of wine, after one sip I stood up and almost fell over. My resistance had totally gone. It was almost worth it for that.
