Sympathies and empathy. At least three times, I've fallen coming out from tutoring--it's embarrassing, painful, and--suddenly, whoof--physically and emotionally shocking. I scrape my knees and hands, and I bruise very easily and over a substantial area. That kind of excitement nobody needs.
One of the things I want to know is, howcome this hurts more than it did when I was a kid?
This time mine doesn't, probably because my skirt intervened between my knees and the pavement. I scraped the skin off, but they weren't badly torn up like some of the scraped knees I got as a kid.
And yes, I also want to know if you scraped all the skin off the heels of your hands; I remember that one. Urgh.
The heel of my left hand is bright red and sore but not bleeding. My right arm was holding onto my purse the whole time, so it didn't hit the ground.
The last time I did this particular move, I was walking along an uneven sidewalk and was trying to clip my pager to the neckline of my dress. I caught the toe of my Teva on a block and had about three feet to collaps into before I ran into wooden steps leading up.
Damage: two skinned knees with broken skin, etc., one bruised heel of hand (right) and one unhappy bursa (left elbow). Two hours later, I didn't have enough arm mobility to drive.
So, total sympathies to you.
Might I suggest a coating of aloe on the raw places? It sure helped me.

Not that I'd know anything about that, nope, nope, not at all ...

And second, owwww. So sorry that the second bout wasn't as minimized as the first. Hope it heals quickly.

Because as a grownup, you've learned how to do it better than you did back then.

No, but thanks for asking. I came down square on my hands and knees, which doesn't really put stress on the hip.
