I'd like to go to Alaska, Hawaii, and Vermont, but strangely enough, I have no desire whatsoever to visit Alabama or Oklahoma.

I've actually visited Oklahoma. It was very flat. There were cows. We ate pretty good food in a little tiny diner-ish place.

I want to visit Alabama, as a historical thing; all that civil rights stuff makes me want to see some of it.

If it was very flat you were probably in central or western OK, yes? I grew up in OK, the northeastern part which is rather more hilly.
