STAGE FRIGHT STAGE FRIGHT STAGE FRIGHT!!!

Okay. Good to get that out of my system. Off to breathe slowly and calm down.

Update:
It did not occur to me that I didn't have to worry about being nervous, because nobody would be able to hear me. Hopefully they'll be able to fix the volume when they put it on the website, because I'm told that I was barely there on live radio.

*sigh*

So far so good.

Listening live, and you're doing just fine. You read off the reference material, and you're using your own words now and it sounds good to me.

I cranked my speaker way up. A bit of a hum, and I had to turn it back down when the commentator speaks.

Hopefully the engineer person will re-master it to equalize the sound levels.

The interviewer gave the wrong URL, so I googled for it. The Stanford Prison Experiment website is at http://www.prisonexp.org/.

You sounded as calm as though you do this every day (you garbled and hesitated a lot less than your interviewer, in fact!) and your responses were as well-put-together as if you had written the whole thing out beforehand. You were great!

Did you really enjoy it?

Well, I did have some notes, but I didn't use them much.

Did you really enjoy it?

I did, actually. Strange to say. I was terrified before the phone rang, but then I got revved up for it.

So could you actually hear me? Jae, for one, says she couldn't. I'm hoping it wasn't a problem for everyone.

Yep. I had to turn the speaker way up, but I could hear you.

I heard you. They did have the volume on the incoming line screwed up, so you were noticeably fainter than the guy hosting the show. But I could still hear you pretty clearly. (And clearly, he sounded much more nervous than you!)

That's unfortunate, but it's not your fault. The sound engineer should have fixed that. But yes, you'll never sound as good over the phone as you'll sound either in the studio or over a four-wire. Often when I've done interviews, I've made them rent studio time and set up a remote link. The sound is way better.

I also do much better once I get the first fifteen seconds end and adrenalin takes over.
