Two pleasant things.
Jun. 29th, 2004 05:59 pmThe nice young woman at For Eyes found an earpiece that fits, but does not match, my glasses frame, and fastened it on for me. Total elapsed time: less than ten minutes.
"Thank you, that's wonderful," I said. "How much?"
She looked surprised. "Oh, it's no charge."
And this was after I told her I'd bought the glasses somewhere else. My next pair is definitely coming from her.
Leaving the glasses shop, I discovered that two new restaurants have opened up within two blocks of the alt.polycon 12 hotel. One is a small cafe and antiquarian bookstore, serving inexpensive sandwiches, coffee drinks, and desserts. The other seems to serve upscale American food with an accent on regional Southern flavors. Mmmm. Let's hope they both survive until January.
