I made a brief post last night that sank like a stone - no comments, no notice. Egotistical person that I am, I found that odd, so today I checked a couple of friends' pages. My post from last night isn't there. It shows up on my LJ, though.

[Edited to add: Apparently, it didn't show up on anyone's friends page, but I can see it on my own journal page. The date and time were correct.]

Anyone know what might have happened?

It didn't show up on my friends page. How very odd.

Yours was one of the friends pages I checked, actually, because I felt very sure that you wouldn't have sneakily re-defined your "default view" to exclude me.

Heh. Nope, not much chance of that.

Oddly, it's on my friends page now. Perhaps just an unlucky quirk?

Did you maybe manage to backdate it somehow? Backdated posts don't seem to show up on friends pages. I definitely didn't see it last night or this morning when checking my friends page.

It sure doesn't show up on my "friends" page.

It didn't show up on my friendslist either.

But it's here now on mine, just now, within five minutes.

*shrugs*

And it is a pretty dress, I think. Good color for you.

No, but this happens fairly regularly. My friends pages rarely show all of the entries my friends have made, and which ones don't get shown seems consistent. If I got to someone's actual journal page, I'll almost always see entries that I was never shown.

I couldn't possibly manage going to everyone's page directly, though, and I've never had the time or inclination to thoroughly document the problem, so I just sort of accept it as a part of the LJ experience.

I didn't see it; this seems to have started happening to me, both with not seeing all of my friends' posts and with fewer of my posts getting any replies, in the last few weeks. I wonder if it correlates with how many people one's friendslist is trying to manage ? This has become noticable to me just as I passed 155 people reading me or so.

I've had this happen a couple of times since the last database maintenance. Coincidence? Hmmm...

We know that LJ doesn't put backdated comments on people's homepages. I believe that if a window stays open too long, or if you leave the window open when you put the computer to sleep, or something like that, then the LJ database decides that your post is backdated.

I hadn't seen it, but then again several other ljfriends were reporting problems yesterday afternoon with their memories disappearing or friend groups having vanished. [Support was aware of the problems and working to resolve.] Maybe your post got caught in the same glitch?
