Extreme sympathies! At least, as I say about my menstrual problems, (1) you know it will go away at a definite time, and (2) you don't have to worry about being contagious. But a week of pain is bad enough--months of being icky should get you some medla. Well, I guess you'll get something much, much better, but still, you should get a medal too!
