Sweetest. Husband. EVER.

We went out for sushi this evening to celebrate my birthday. (Cooked sushi, in my case.)

While we were waiting for our meal, Michael handed me a card. "To the woman I'd marry all over again, with love on your birthday," I read, and tears filled my eyes.

"You made me cry," I said, after I finished reading what he'd written inside.

He grinned at me. "You ain't seen nothin' yet."

I opened my present, a lovely silver pendant in the shape of a flaming chalice symbol. Really lovely. Nicer than any other chalice necklace I've seen. We talked about going together to pick out a chain of the proper length. I smiled from ear to ear.

And then he said: "I was also asked to give you this."

He handed me another envelope, this one addressed to "mama."

"What?..."

"Just open it."

I did, and read, "Happy birthday to you, Mom... the best Mom there ever was."

And then, in tiny tiny handwriting: "thank you for the lovely accomodations. i love you. happy birthday, and i will see you in the spring. love, li'l critter."

Oh. My. God. What a wonderful, wonderful man.

Happy birthday from me too!

Further proof, if I'd needed it, that he's the absolute best man I could ever hope for you to be married to.

Happy birthday darling.

You hardly need any more good wishes, but happy birthday just the same. They don't take up much space, after all!

Not that we needed *more* proof of Michael's absolute rockingness, but wow.

Happy birthday, you.

Not only is he a very fine husband, but he and the L'il Critter are correct in their high opinions of you.

Happy birthday, sweetie.

Wow. And Awwwww, like everyone else.

I want one. A husband like that, I mean. Only...well, you know.

Hmm. On the other hand, presumably I'd have to deserve one as much as you do...and that would be really difficult.

how sweet.
Pooch gave me a wonderful flaming chalice for our last anniversary. Especially significant since we are of different faiths

[identity profile] rivka.livejournal.com 2004-10-27 12:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Xopher, it pains me to point out that even with a husband of the caliber of mine - and a relocation to Massachusetts - you still wouldn't qualify for a birthday card addressed to "mama." Alas.

[identity profile] xopher-vh.livejournal.com 2004-10-27 01:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Too true. Not without some pretty bizarre technology that I'd be disinclined to use, even if it existed.

But I think I'd be quite satisfied with a husband who would come up with equivalent good stuff...have to keep making these little adjustments!

Best post of the day. It can't get better than that, I'm done reading for the day.
