We're having our annual holiday open house tomorrow.[1]
I haven't done any cooking yet, so the next 24 hours are going to be an orgy of food preparation. I believe I'll be leaving work early.
Menu:
hot appetizers, passed on trays:
cheese-sausage balls
dilled mushrooms in puff pastry
on the buffet table:
meat and cheese platter, artistically arranged by
curiousangel
raw vegetables with two dips (hummus and horseradish dip)
tiny phyllo pastry cups with smoked salmon, capers, and creme fraiche
snickerdoodles
refrigerator nut cookies
to drink:
hot spiced cider
Santa Carolina cabernet-merlot
ginger ale, diet Coke, ice water
Am I forgetting anything that a party needs to have?
[1] My local LJ friends did see the info, right? I made a post friends-grouped for locals, but it got no responses so I'm not sure it got out.

Date: 2004-12-17 11:37 am (UTC)It was *so* not there before. I read the post before it and the one after it, but that particular post...
Weird.
I'll have to ask Le Fiancee tonight. (And I was just wondering yesterday if y'all were having a party this year or not!)

Date: 2004-12-17 11:44 am (UTC)I find that it's a nice way to keep me circulating through the party and let me check in with everyone.
It probably helps that I feel no need to keep the appetizers constantly circulating. I'll periodically heat up a tray and carry them around the room, but I'm not trying to have them in constant flow.
When I was a kid, I always used to love passing trays of appetizers at my parents' parties. It made me feel very important and grown up. That's probably why it seems like an "of course" kind of thing to me, even now.
