LJ self-referentiality.
Jan. 7th, 2005 08:07 amFollowing many other people's lead: the first sentence of the first public entry of each month of 2004:
I liked this thing that
droewyn did: LJ year in review, month-by-month. I complain about my boss, I know. Your boss lets her nine-year-old son hang out in your office sometimes, when she's working in the evening or on weekends. Mmm, now I want a nutbar. My vacation has officially begun! Should
curiousangel and I go to Worldcon? Michael comes home today, and I'm so relieved. Yesterday was such a calm, peaceful day. I've gone back and made a bunch of entries visible, dating back to the last week of July. The clinic where I work two days a week refuses to give me login privileges to their network. Quick summary: everything looks great. I am so furious about having had to write this post that my hands are shaking.
And, because I did like that thing that
droewyn did,
January
I discovered Ikea, a late but powerful addiction.
I started a deeper exploration of Christianity.
I had my first migraine and fell down the stairs.
February
Respectful of Otters got discovered.
Howard Dean withdrew from the Presidential race.
I preached a little sermon.
March
I started planning alt.polycon 12.
I hosted a fascinating discussion of research ethics.
I seriously thought I was pregnant for one turmoil-filled week. (No link, because all the posts were private, but it dominated my LJ for the last part of March so I'm including it anyway.)
April
Poly hell happened. (restricted post)
We signed a hotel contract for apc12. (I notice that, at the time, I thought it was reasonable to expect 70-90 people. Ouch.)
With a million of our closest friends, we marched on Washington.
May
I had a close encounter with a highway guardrail.
I took a vacation, in which I sat around and did very little.
Michael got a job!!
Cicadas threatened my life, or at least my sanity.
June
We decided to go to Worldcon.
I was interviewed on a radio show.
Michael went on a business trip, and I felt anxious and intimidated.
July
We hosted an exchange student from Spain. (restricted post; I think just friends-locked.)
We spent an insane, fun-filled day in New York City.
For the first time, I posted about personal disability issues in my weblog.
I found out I was pregnant.
August
Pregnancy symptoms were endllessly fascinating to me.
After a successful first midwife visit, I announced my pregnancy to the world.
September
Whoa, I didn't make a single post about Worldcon...
...probably because I was baby-obsessed.
Our baby had a heartbeat.
October
The second trimester was a relief...
...until I developed severe back pain.
We saw our baby for the first time.
Michael took the "sweetest husband EVER" prize.
November
Kerry lost the election, and I had a really hard time with it.
I felt the baby move.
We had a little gardening problem.
I put together a wildly successful holiday music exchange.
December
In Respectful of Otters, I exercised my "righteous paws and fangs of fury."[1]
I narrowly avoided setting myself on fire.
We threw a great party.
Jeez. I'd better apologize to those of you who aren't pregnancy-obsessed - my journal's been incredibly boring for the second half of the year, hasn't it?
[1] Thank you, Moe.
