I dreamed that I was making lunch for eight or nine people. When they were all seated around the table and I was dishing out the food, I suddenly realized that there was almost nothing to eat. What I had been thinking of as the main course turned out to just be corn mixed with black beans, and there were only a couple of meager spoonfuls in the bowl - to be split eight ways. The other dishes were in similar shape.

Gosh, whatever could that possibly mean?

Bad night last night. I woke up around five and couldn't get back to sleep - a combination of aches and pains, cold symptoms, the baby moving, and an inability to banish unrestful topics from my mind. Argh.

...and then the seven lean kine started tapdancing, and...

I would interpret that dream as "someone should take you out to dinner immediately"

Ugh. My version of that is that I'm desperately trying to produce a large meal and keep finding I've run out of essential ingredients or don't have enough of vital items for the numbers in question, and there is also a time element involved.

My first thought was that you're bearing the messiah (and he'll do something involving making food for large numbers of people).

Ding ding ding! We have a winner.

It helps to know that, in my paradigm, food = love.

Aargh. In real life, I hope you have other people helping you with the stuff that has to get provided.

Pregnancy Dreams = Giant Hammer of Clue

They're really not even a little bit subtle, are they?

Last night I dreamed that a group of my college, grad school, and current friends were all going off somewhere together, and there was no room in the car for me. Again, boy, it's a good thing that I took all those psychology courses, or I'd have no idea what to make of such an obscure image.

Oddly enough, I've never actually seen the baby in my dreams. I've been pregnant in some dreams, and I've had dreams that were obviously about the baby (represented by baby monkeys, for example), but I don't dream of her.

I only ever took Psych 101, so I'm not sure how I'm coping with the onslaught of difficult images and tropes coming my way.

I've never actually seen the baby in my dreams. I've been pregnant in some dreams

I've only seen my baby once - in a dream where she was outside of my body and beautiful and perfect, and the dream ended with the awareness that I wasn't done with the pregnancy, so she needed to go back in and I wasn't sure how that was going to happen. In most of my dreams, I am at least vaguely aware of still being pregnant, though - whether it's relevant to the obscure plotline or not.

i do drive pretty fast, but that might be stretching it. but i owe you a batch of chili. it isn't hot--it is more spicy flavorful than fiery by a long shot. i invented the recipe for my then gf who was a triathlete so it hs a lot of different kinds of protein in it. and black beans and corn--hence me thinking of it.

*hug*

There will be enough of you to go around. There will be loaves and fishes. And when there isn't -- when you're scraping the bottom of the bowl -- then it's time to make stone soup.

Because those people around the table are not just empty mouths to feed. They are full of resources: skillful hands, loving hearts, minds each with its unique problem-solving creativity.

"How can I do all this?" is not a rhetorical question. And it isn't cheating to get help with the answers.

Your baby is blessed to be coming into a life so rich in love and work and everything that makes life worth living.
