How many total songs?
1751, total time 4:10:06:49.

Sort by song title - first and last?
'Cause Cheap is How I Feel - Cowboy Junkies (because punctuation apparently comes first in the alphabet.)
or
A Boat Like Gideon Brown's - Great Big Sea (if you go by the actual alphabet.)
Zombie Jamboree - Rockapella

Sort by time - first and last?
Losers - Moxy Fruvous (0:09; this is a song intro from their "Live Noise" album.)
or
The Boss - Utah Phillips (0:15; this is the shortest actual song I've got.)
Partita No. 2 in D minor: Ciaconna - J.S. Bach (14:20.)

Sort by Album - first and last?
"10 Things I Hate About You" soundtrack (because numbers come before letters in the alphabet.)
or
"A Charlie Brown Christmas" (if you go by the actual alphabet.)
"You Will Go to the Moon" - Moxy Fruvous

Top five played songs?
Okay, here's the thing: I don't think this is accurate, because if you skip to the next song yourself rather than letting iTunes skip for you, it doesn't register the song as having been played. But here's what it claims are my top five played songs.

1. A Little Less Conversation - Elvis Presley (17 times? I have listened to that way more than 17 times.)
2. The Christians and the Pagans - Dar Williams (15 times.)
3. Kingdom in the Sky - Da Vinci's Notebook (14 times.)
4. La Musica Notturna Delle Strade Di Madrid No. 6, Op. 30 - Boccherini (14 times; why? Your guess is as good as mine. No, wait, never mind: I started playing it, and Michael is humming along with great accuracy and a big smile on his face. That's why it's in the top-played five.)
5. Everybody Wants to Rule the World - Tears For Fears (14 times.)

Find 'sex', how many songs show up?
Do You Think I'm Sexy? - The Benzedrine Monks

Find 'death', how many songs show up?
Christmas (Baby Please Come Home) - Death Cab For Cutie
How Death Comes - The Medieval Baebes

Find 'love', how many songs show up?
90 songs, so I won't list them all here. But 32 of them are from a double album called "For the Love of Ella Fitzgerald," so they hardly count. Only three of those 32 have "love" in the title.

No, but that's the thing! I know I've listened to a lot of songs more frequently than 17 times. I really think it can't be counting every play.

On the other hand, I don't do the obsessive replays of a single song that I happen to know that you do. :-) Not that that's bad, of course. I just don't do it.

Err. Is it good or bad that in less than a year I've played Jeff Buckley's version of Hallelujah nearly 50 times?

Do you know Rufus Wainright's version? I like that one better.

Bah. Leonard Cohen's original kicks both their butts. ;)

Well, I have his version too, but I really like Buckley's better.

John Cale also recorded an excellent version of "Hallelujah." It's on the soundtrack to Basquiat if anyone's interested.

No I don't. Hmm. Wonder if I dare go to iMusic. While home and bored over the last 6 weeks I've spent rather a lot there....

I could send it to you, if you like. E-mail me from an address where you don't mind receiving attachments.

At least on my iTunes, it doesn't count the play unless it reaches the *end* of the song. So if you listen to all but one second of a song and then forward to the next song, it doesn't get counted. Could that be what's going on?
