This morning I woke up to a smiley happy baby, so the pain of vaccination seems to have faded. Much of our day so far has been devoted to playing.

Today's exciting new developmental skill: grabbing Mama's glasses.

Watch out for the exciting developmental skill of grabbing earrings. Ouch!

Oh yeah! Time to give up dangly earrings now, before it becomes a problem.

My ears aren't pierced, so the temptation is slight. ;-)

I didn't know why at the time, but two weeks before Squeeky was born, I switched from my wire rims to my black plastic hornrims; turns out it was intuitive because the big plastic ones were a lot more rugged and babyproofed. I still can't figure out why, but around her first birthday, I switched back and between grabbing and occasional headwrenching right into a lens, this pair is downright uncomfortable and bent. Argh.

Silly girl. Maybe she'll get Daddy's vision and never have to deal with glasses.

She's already developing the "Ohhh, shiny!!" instinct!

I have a necklace that I used to wear every single day without fail which I haven't worn since the EB was born - I don't want her grabbing and pulling. Same with my hair - I wear it up every day so she won't grab. When my hair is down (like right after I've washed it) she looks at me like she's trying to figure out who I am, this strange lady with all the weird wet stuff hanging in front of my face. Then she grabs and I put it up.

My daughter is nearly 17 months and playing with my glasses is still one of her favourite games. When I'm on the telephone, lying or sitting on the sofa she loves to come over and pull them off, cue me having to put the phone down and chase short-sightedly after the child. Get glasses back, come and apologise to whoever has been on the phone - it's a far too common feature of calls with me!

Glad that the vaccinations seem to have not had a lingering ill-effect!

That baby is too darn cute!
When I was a nanny I wore my hair in long braids which I could use to tickle the babies with. They loved it! Since my hair was in a braid it didn't hurt if they grabbed it and pulled. And the bonus gift? Braids are fun cat toys too! The only down side? Occasional emergency hair washing due to explosive baby diapers. But hey, that can happen to anyone, right? Right.
