Some news.

I just took wcg home from the hospital. I know the news that he was in the hospital has sort of partially propogated through our mutual circles; he's given me permission to post a brief update.

Yesterday, Bill went to the doctor because he'd had a few days of weird pain and tingling on his left side. When his blood pressure was discovered to be 200/135, they admitted him to the hospital, where he was discovered to have had a few lacunar strokes. The strokes were very small and don't appear to have caused any functional problems. However, the blood pressure problem is pretty alarming, and needs to be gotten under control immediately to prevent future (and possibly larger) strokes.

Bill's feeling fine, and will probably be posting to that effect any minute now. But I suspect that he, and everyone close to him, could probably use a hug.

I don't know Bill myself, but I know of him, and I wish him all the best of health as soon as possible. And you can have a nice big hug if you want one. I smell a bit... mommyish though.

I spent some time communicating support to Paula last night and rounding up a little all-around healing energy. All of which still continues, but *hugs* to you, too, my dear. Scary stuff, but fortunate that the BP problem was detected in time to prevent worse occurrences.

Eeee. A hug for the Rivka, and one for Bill too if he wants one from somebody he has never met. I'm so glad he went to the doctor. I know that blood pressure is really really scary, but I just wanted to add that I walked around with mine around there for several months while they tried to figure out the right medication. I hope his is more tractable. Most people's is. Best wishes all around.

His BP readings were still not optimal when I arrived at the hospital this morning (distolic > 100), but by discharge time it was finally down around 150/80. Let's hope they've got him on the right meds.

Glad he is ok, for some values of ok. Presumably they've given him tablets to try to get the b.p. sorted out? Hopefully they'll work.
