Yep. I lived a mile or so from the foothills in northern Colorado for about 20 years, and have been living elsewhere for the last 25 years, most recently in Virginia. Three months back, we moved to western Massachusetts, which is pleasantly hilly, often with a horizon which is pleasantly unflat (though I liked having a choice of horizons in Colorado).
I think I'll just adopt a John Cleese tone and say, "Look, mate, this is an EX-mountain!" next time it comes up. The subject, I mean.
