My friend came over for dinner tonight, but just as we finished our spinach enchiladas her girlfriend called to say that she had locked herself out of the house, and could she please come home. So now I find myself unexpectedly alone for the evening with a big pan of dark chocolate brownies.

It's a good thing that Alex set a new world going-to-bed record, or we might not have gotten dinner eaten at all.
