I'm admiring at least half of her.

Oh the cuteness! I think my uterus just ran off to maryland to try and clone her.

How about a deal? You successfully manage to clip her nails, and you may have the clippings for DNA purposes.

That seems... oddly reasonable :)

She is a cutie. I've been rereading your newborn posts to remind me that I'm not the only one who thinks the first few weeks are insane. *sigh*

Oh good lord, of course you're not. Be of good cheer! It gets steadily better, starting at about... week six.

(And many felicitations!)

Pat the Bunny is certifiably the tastiest book. It's also excellent for sitting on and flapping back and forth. So Elena reports, anyway.

(Meanwhile - Juanita! She was like.... *4* the last time I saw her. Sheesh!)

Pat the Bunny has already lost its front cover and is within moments of losing the back cover. They're just too darn chewable, with that comb binding.

BTW who has the red hair?

I maintain strongly that it is not our mailman, who is African-American. And female.

She is so beautiful. And I don't mean that only in the physical sense. I think you will be rising to many challenges to her intelligence in the next 20 or so years. And I think you and [livejournal.com profile] curiousangel are very much up to the challenges :):).

I am enjoying this so much. Thank you for sharing her growth, her progress, *her*.

Yay! Just what I needed when sitting at the computer, wide awake, at 3 am!

Rivka, what kind of stroller did you end up getting, and do you like it? I foudn posts in your memories talking about checking out strollers, but didn't see one where you picked one or commented on it after the fact.

To begin with, we had a Snap N Go - the thingy that infant carseats snap into. Loved it. Unfortunately, Alex became too long for the infant carseat before she was five months old.

Now we have a Combi City Savvy. Things I like about it: extremely lightweight, easily maneuverable, folds up very small and has a shoulder strap for carrying while folded. Things I don't like about it: the basket is very hard to access when the baby is in the stroller, and it's too small.

(And congratulations!)

We're going to get a convertible carseat that you can use both back and front facing, from newborn to 40 pounds, so we're not in the market for a stroller that a carseat attaches to. Does the other stroller work from newborn up, or is it only for older babies? The problem I'm having (in online research; haven't gone to the store yet) is finding a lightweight stroller that fully reclines so you can put a newborn in it.

(I posted a comment to you in Christie's journal a while ago, hinting at this development, but I don't know if you saw it or followed up on it. :) )

Lightweight strollers pretty much don't recline fully for newborns. My friend Emily is crazy about her Zooper, and that does fully recline - you might look into that. But at 16lbs and only partially collapsible, it's more of a middleweight stroller. Still, she does take it on the bus.

Lightweight may be the wrong term to use; I want something that is not *too* heavy, and something that folds up to go in the trunk, but what I really don't want is one of those HUGE strollers or travel system dealies.

Also, I have serious doubts about how well newborns really fit into convertible carseats. Is your husband really big? Do you have reason to suspect that you're having a larger-than-usual baby? Is there anyone you could borrow an infant seat from?

Well, both Mr. R. and his brother weighted about 9 pounds when they were born, but that doesn't necessarily mean we'll have a big baby. I would check out what you say about convertible seats, but as it happened a colleague has given me an infant seat, so we can use that for a few months at the beginning.

Aw mom, you're embarrasing me!

(Alex, I haven't made up my mind either... all I know is that when mom and her friends took me to that shop with all the boobies [was it restaurant supply?], I really liked touching all of the silky things. Pretty!)

Well, look who's talking, with that adorably moonfaced userpic!

I'd date it to the reliable appearance of her smile, but I might also be a trifle biased.

I think it's that you really start seeing their personalities expressed in their faces in a way you don't when they are especially wee.
