Argh.

We got back from SUUSI on Saturday night to discover that some sort of a power surge had fried the power strip that my computer equipment was plugged into. The DSL modem is toast; that being the case, it took us until today to discover that my computer won't power up either.

Michael is taking it in to work tomorrow to get help with some diagnostics. Hopefully he'll discover that all it needs is a new power supply, but, well, we don't know.

Argh.

Well, yes. But at least you're not grievously injured by a power surge that broke your brain!

I might be. And no one would ever know, because MY COMMUNICATIONS ABILITY IS IMPAIRED.

Aw man, that is awful. I hope it is just something like fixing the power supply.

I ARGH on your behalf! That totally sucks.

I'm sorry. I know that's got to cut into your sense of connectedness. (It's also going to be costly.)

Have you considered getting a UPS?

We have a surge protector. Apparently it just wasn't as mighty as the surge was.

Yikes! That's some surge.

I went to a true UPS (battery in a box, AC in, becomes DC, converts back to AC out) because I wanted to have constantly conditioned power and a way to protect the computers from power surges/losses. I've been happy with it, though it does bleat like a sheep when the input power fluctuates.

This may be an issue you can take up with your power company. A surge once fried my VCR, and they reimbursed me.

Also, you could yammer at the power strip company, since their product failed.
