*nod* I was about to comment that you might want to consider using the longest screws you can manage to up the security. But that unit alone is an improvement over nothing for certain.
I don't seriously think that they would break down our door. It was just creeping the hell out of me to have to answer the door without any idea of who might be there.
I read somewhere that professional thieves appreciate that kind of lock because, by locking it themselves after B&E, the thieves are alerted when the homeowners return, giving the thieves some time to make a quick exit out the back door. I still think those locks are a good idea for the reasons you mentioned earlier, but if the three of you ever arrive home and find the thing latched, you might want to give it some time before going around the back.

The door side doesn't tend to give as often, but a strike plate for it isn't a bad idea either.
