Check out this bizarrely hypnotic and addictive falling sand game/puzzle/Zen garden.

It's hard to describe what makes it so cool. Just start building walls and channels, setting things on fire, growing things, and mixing things... and then tell me whether or not you can stop.

Helpful hints: Control panel is at the bottom. The falling stuff is, from left to right: sand, water, salt, oil. The weird rolling thing is the "namekuji;" you can make it stop moving or vanish it entirely. Water makes it grow and salt makes it dry up. Plants only grow when they are watered. "Cera" is wax; it burns. Nothing piles up at the bottom of the screen unless you build a floor. Watch out for the "???" control; it's a doozy.

I was riveted to this thing about six months ago.

Then I lost the URL.

Thanks. I think.

(Actually, I'm quite sure. In small doses, this thing is really entertaining.)

Heh, I remember being addicted to that. My favorite method was to train the plant into those pretty branching tendrils rather than solid green, and try and fill the whole screen with pseudo Spanish moss.

Not that I need to try again. I'm over it. I will not click....

This may replace Line Flyer (http://www.lineflyer.com/lineflyer.html) as my serious timewaster.

Try this:

A hollow circle of wax. Put water inside until circle is about half full. Set upper half on fire until wax just catches. Watch pretty picture. :-)

Oh, that is cool! It's neat how little bits of wax drop onto the surface of the water, and then catch fire later on as the edges burn down to the water level.

Another cool thing: make a big honeycombed vessel of wax with lots of interconnecting chambers, and let it slowly fill with oil. Make a pillar of wax on one side and light the top. It will sloooowly burn down until it reaches the oil, and then BOOM!

The descriptions here alone are sufficient to tell me I really need to stay away from this, my OCDish tendencies do not need another object. Which is a shame as it sounds very soothing.

For me, it's the SIMS. Or downloading SIMS stuff. Or being a SIM.
