rivka: (Christmas hat me)

1. Did morning duty with Alex, who was up too early despite having gone to sleep too late.
2. Went on a two-hour shopping spree with Alex, during which we obtained:
  • Present for Michael.

  • Presents for Michael's stepmother's little grandkids.

  • Present for Alex, slipped into the cart without her noticing.

  • Stocking stuffer for Alex, ditto.

  • Card for my sister Juanita's present.

  • Picture frames for the framed family pictures we are giving to all three grandparental units.

  • Hot-steam vaporizer, because the cold vapor ones don't do shit for a cough.

  • Miscellaneous other drugstore stuff.

  • Stuff from Whole Foods, for dinner: cilantro chicken sausages, chipotle chicken sausages, bread.
3. Wrapped gifts.
4. Finished plans for tomorrow's Religious Education class.
5. Helped Michael put away laundry.
6. Baked seven dozen cookies, five dozen of which go to [livejournal.com profile] telerib's cookie exchange tomorrow.
7. Cooked dinner.
8. Unpacked and set up the hot-steam vaporizer.
9. Did the first hour of putting-Alex-to-bed.
10. Hit the grocery store and did a week's worth of grocery shopping.
11. Washed the dishes - not usually my job, but when I came home I discovered that there had been an entire second hour of putting-Alex-to-bed, because she kept coughing herself awake again. So Michael was a little bit behind.
12. Ordered a Christmas present for my nephew Andy.

On the schedule for tomorrow:
1. Go to church. Teach Religious Education.
2. Long-Range Planning meeting after church.
3. Hit the mall for the last two presents on our list. (This time, don't forget to buy a card for Meaghan's Christmas bonus.)
4. Cookie exchange and caroling with [livejournal.com profile] telerib.
5. Finish wrapping and packing up gifts that will be mailed.
6. Start painting the little table and chairs Alex will be getting for Christmas.

Possible alterations to tomorrow's schedule:
1. Be up half the night responding to Alex coughing herself awake.
2. Do 1-3 on the planned schedule, and then send Michael caroling and stay home with sick child.

Got to love those relaxing holiday season weekends.

I am SO with you on the hot-steam vaporizers! When I bought the first vaporizer several years ago, you could not FIND a hot-steam vaporizer. I didn't even realize the darn thing was cold until poor LT flopped over the bed to put her head in the steam and came scrambling up. "It's ... COLD!" She was sorely disappointed. We got the nasty respiratory infection that ran around the Twin Cities in November, and I went out to buy a new vaporizer. She was nearly blissful hanging over the edge with her head in the steam.
