Jul. 6th, 2007 12:43 pmWorkday bad news: Last night, it seems, they transferred the Institute's computer system from the University of Maryland Biotechnology Institute's servers to the University of Maryland School of Medicine's servers.
Today, it seems, none of the Institute's IT staff are here. Which is a problem, because we can't connect to the public drives, the hospital extranet, the electronic medical records, or the network printers. There is very little that I can actually do right now. I know that everyone likes a five-day weekend, and more than half the faculty isn't here either... but couldn't they have left somebody to handle the inevitable transition problems?
Workday good news: In the hospital cafeteria, I got extra shrimp in my paella for being the first person today to actually pronounce it correctly.
