I have news!
Jan. 25th, 2008 11:06 amMichael and I are absolutely delighted to announce that I am twelve weeks pregnant! I'm due August 3rd.
I was supposed to be waiting until we heard a heartbeat before I made a public announcement, but we've pretty much run out of patience with waiting for my uterus to clear the pelvic bone so they can reach it with a Doppler. (My midwife practice doesn't do routine early ultrasounds.) I went in to the midwife for a quick check this morning, and although she wasn't able to find the heartbeat she said that there's been definite growth since my first midwife appointment two weeks ago. So yay! A baby!
How I'm feeling: the first trimester has been a lot harder this time around. Much more nausea. In the last week or two it's eased up during the daytime, but I still get pretty nauseated every evening (because I'm tired, I guess?) and I often don't have much appetite for dinner. And I'm tired, but not sleeping well.
I'd say I'm about three-quarters excited and one-quarter nervous. When Alex is being difficult, it's hard to imagine going through all of this with a newborn, too. But, you know, families have been having second children for millions of years. So it must all work out somehow.
