So I was talking to someone yesterday, and she made me feel like a space alien. Just checking to see whether I'm as abnormal as that conversation made me feel:

For some people, yes. For me, I would usually deal with a need for my family to be fed by grabbing something made by Encore out of the freezer and microwaving it for ten minutes: producing a cooked meal, yes, but using fresh ingredients, no.

(Cooking is not my usual chore in this household.)

I was trying to differentiate between a cooked meal prepared from ingredients and a cooked meal prepared from a package. Preparing a cooked meal from leftovers didn't occur to me, actually, because I am so thoroughly used to cooking for two.

Ah, we eat food one of us has prepared starting from a raw state roughly 5 nights a week, but many of those nights are leftovers.

In contrast, Alex and I had frozen fish sticks and tater tots last night, and a vegetable. Technically, that was a cooked dinner. But except for the spinach it had nothing to do with fresh ingredients.
