I just registered us for this year's SUUSI. Their online system is probably the most user-friendly registration setup I've ever seen. We still have to mail in a big packet of waivers and permissions, but at least we've all made it into the queue for our various trips and workshops.

My father is going again this year. He and I are taking a workshop and a hike together. And [livejournal.com profile] bosssio is going as well - yay, we didn't totally scare her off last year! We're going to be suitemates again. I'm crossing my fingers hoping that Dorian (our friend and Alex's ex-nanny) and her mother will decide to go too. I think they'd have a wonderful time, and it would be great to have extra time to hang out with Dorian.

We've got a pretty heavy schedule this year. I hope we don't regret it. I don't see anything that I'd want to cut out, but there's not quite as much relaxation time as we planned for last year.

Yaaaay, SUUSI!

It sounds fun! What's up with the GPS class -- how to use it, or how the satellites work, ...?

Serendipity dance club?

It does sound fun, doesn't it!

The GPS course description: "Global Positioning System (GPS) use radio signals from satellites to determine positions on the earth’s surface. Learn the difference between Survey, Mapping and Recreational Grades of GPS systems, accuracies of each and general GPS terminology. Learn about the use of topographic data and satellite imagery to determine waypoints and display routes. Bring your personal GPS unit if you have one or just come along and learn what GPS is about. In a previous life, Dave Shellman was lead technician using Mapping grade GPS to map wetlands, water lines and define boundaries of environmental impact. Now he’s just interested in where he’s been and where he’s going. This trip stays on campus."

Serendipity is the over-21 dance club which serves alcohol and caters to our somewhat more geezeriffic musical tastes. They usually have themed nights like "beach party" and "80s night." There's also an all-agees dance club which plays current club music and caters more to the teens and young adults - it's called CACHE, which stands for "Clean Air Clear Heads Everyone." (I don't know.)

The GPS class sounds great, especially the instructor's background. The dance sounds fun, too!
