I've walked Lydia through the office explaining where everything is and what to do with it. All my clients know I'll be away. I've foisted off my regular weekly tasks on other people. I've set the away message for my work e-mail and voicemail. I've watered my plants. I've gotten
curiousangel to clean the potential doom from the refrigerator, and he washed the dishes on his own initiative. I've paid all our bills. I've packed. I've mostly packed. I'm sure I've forgotten something:
- Beach towel, swimsuit, ancient swimsuit.
- Jeans and flannel shirt, in case the evenings get chilly. Additional jeans and fleece pullover (to be worn on the plane) available for emergency back-up warmth.
- Four pairs of shorts. Nine T-shirts.
- Eight pairs of underwear. Three pairs of socks. Bras.
- Batik sundress, on the off chance we go somewhere to which I don't want to wear shorts.
- Old comfortable sandals. New yet-to-be-broken-in sandals.
- Bathrobe.
- Baseball cap, in case I can't find a wide-brimmed straw hat.
- Books: two non-work-related nonfiction books, two Ken MacLeods, one Neil Gaiman, one Midori Snyder.
- Two Florida guidebooks from the library.
- Needlework. Scissors packed separately in checked luggage.
- Fluxx, Set, regular playing cards.
- Tea: Earl Grey and Irish Breakfast, enough for someone else to also drink tea every day besides me.
- Camera. Alarm clock. Hair dryer.
- Sunglasses, SPF 30 sunblock, moisturizer with SPF 15 sunblock.
- Medications, including Dramamine in case the flight is rough. Also including birth control pills.
- Shampoo, conditioner, shaving gel, razor, toothbrush, toothpaste, hairbrush, deodorant, lotion.
- Everything I always carry in my purse anyway, including Palm Pilot, cell phone, and Altoids.
- Coupon for a free day at the private airport parking facility. E-ticket receipt. Itinerary. Confirmation and deposit receipt for the cottage we've rented.
curiousangel just looked over my shoulder and objected to the alarm clock. Perhaps I'm not bringing it after all. I should probably put in a non-science-fiction novel. Anything else?
