If our houses are about fifteen feet apart, and they face each other at the back, and between my bedroom and the back of my house is a landing and my kid's room and a bathroom, and another neighbor's air conditioner is running, and it's 3:30 in the morning, and I can hear you having sex,

YOU ARE TOO DAMN LOUD.

Thank you.

Chaste hugs and kisses,
Rivka

Or keep the recording for use in answering Question Box questions next time you facilitate Our Whole Lives.

It was enough to wake me, and I'm usually a pretty sound sleeper. At first, I thought Alex was crying out, but as I woke up, it became obvious that that wasn't what was going on.

It's possible that I was too groggy to locate the noise very well, but it sounded to me like it was actually coming from T & M's apartment under our old house, maybe through their bathroom window. That window is almost directly below ours, and the sound could very well have been reflected up that little side-space in between our two houses.

Their work schedule is also such that it's very possible they were up and around at that time of night. They are generally much more thoughtful neighbors than the people in the house behind us, but they might not have figured on the acoustics of the situation, or that both places would have open windows.

I don't think so, because at first I thought Alex was making weird noises too, and I went into her room to check on her. The noise was louder in her room.

LOL I was the first owner of my condo and when the first owner of the one above me moved in, my sleep started being disturbed. She brought home a different guy every night, literally, and not only was her bed against the wall so it made vast bangings down here, but she screamed like crazy. After about a week, I caught her on our stoop and said, "Did you know when you have sex, your bed makes my wall bang? And your screaming keeps me awake." She suddenly looked very embarrassed and after that, the bed was away from the wall and she stopped screaming. I was sorry to inhibit her, but if she wants to scream like that, she should live out in the wild.

She eventually started having boyfriends (and changed her clothes, hair, and entire look to go with each one) and then finally married. The first renters she had were a young couple with a baby. The baby was quieter than she'd been.

I don't mean this to sound non-sympathetic but my husband and I both sleep MUCH better with Leight Laser Lite foam earplugs. I understand that with a small child in the house, someone has to be able to hear but you might be able to take turns.

This has been a miracle solution for us and we never have to worry about noisy a/c in a hotel or whatever.
