I am very excited.

[livejournal.com profile] acceberskoorb, [livejournal.com profile] unodelman, and [livejournal.com profile] lynsaurus brainwashed us into really, really wanting a Wii. (And, as [livejournal.com profile] fairoriana pointed out once in a post I can't find, pregnant women naturally deserve them.)

They're kind of hard to find. We'd poked around a bit, and mostly found stores selling a big bundle of extra stuff with the Wii, for a lot more money than the bare console price. But after our last trip to [livejournal.com profile] acceberskoorb et al.'s house, I called our local Best Buy and asked when they'd next get a shipment. Sunday morning, they told us. They would open at 10. So we made plans to make a daring Wii raid before church.

And then! Michael got the bright idea today that we should call around to local game stores and see who sold used games for the Wii. And one of the stores said, "Actually, we have one system left in stock." So we dashed up there, and now we have a Wii and we don't have to miss the pancake breakfast before church tomorrow.

All three of us are very excited.

Wii!!!

Oh, FUN! I want one too. Well, except that [profile] epi_lj likes the PS3 better.

Hmm, I wonder how I could fit a Wii into the curriculum in my new courses ...

Ah... if only the Wii had Blu Ray, I'd have no problem being a double traitor and getting one! (See, I'm going to be working for Microsoft soon, so getting anything other than an XBox is treacherous, and I already have a PS2, so I could be double-crossing Sony, as well. Well, except, I consider that Sony broke their agreement first because the PS3 doesn't play PS2 games any more.

Um, yeah. Because you mentioned the PS3 in your response, this all makes sense and follows logically. For some value of "logic" that resembles what goes on inside my head, of course.

Hannah really likes Playground, which is, well, playground games on the Wii--dodge ball, wall ball, darts (okay, not all are playground games), a sort of soccer game, etc. She can beat the easier levels; I can't beat some of the hardest ones.

Beware of "wii arm". It is a real injury!

I highly recommend getting a copy of Mario Party 8. It's a board-game style party game with lots of weird little activities that involve waving around the wiimote and looking generally silly. It's great fun, and if Alex is a bit too young for it now, she won't be soon!

And if you want to friend me, my wii number is 0880 2867 4622 2411.

Yeah, we like that one, too. :)

I wish you had told us you were looking; we can usually get them through the EA company store. What's ironic is that we've bought several and haven't got one ourselves yet.

Have fun with it.

I want a Wii, too! I'm not sure I'd _use_ it that much, since I've never been much of a gamer, but I've very much enjoyed using it at friends' houses.

yay! we love our wii!

if you plan on getting a second controller, be sure to get wii play (http://www.amazon.com/Wii-Play-Remote-nintendo/dp/B000KRXAGE/), which is only $10 more than the remote by itself. then you can get a nunchuk to go with it.

don't know what games you like, but wii fit (http://www.amazon.com/Wii-Fit-Nintendo/dp/B000VJRU44/) is great fun for the whole family, as is boom blox (http://www.amazon.com/Boom-Blox-Nintendo-Wii/dp/B000YDIYFG/).

I second the recommendation above of Boom Blox.

As a tireless fan of old puzzle-style adventure games, I have to shout out a recommendation for Zack and Wiki (http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000P297ES/). Alas, it's out of print, but used copies appear to be easy enough to find.

See, you knew posting this would lead to people posting their favorite esoteric games, right?

There are many awful games for the Wii, but the ones that are good are so very good.
