How could a ten-week-old possibly be cutting a tooth?

He's been drooling and biting, but I just figured it was one of those baby things. And then Michael looked in his mouth and pointed out the unmistakable shape of a tooth on the gumline. You can even feel a tiny little sharp point when you run your finger along the gum.

What. The. Hell?

It's the early end of the probability curve!

(I've heard of babies that cut teeth really early and even ones that were born with teeth, so it sounds unusual but not implausible.)

(So far, I'm finding that nursing isn't affected by teeth on the bottom, but that may change when m finally sprouts some top teeth....)

SteelyKid had eight teeth before I weaned her and except for a couple instances early on, they were not an issue.

I think my crazy-early-at-everything niece got her first at 12 weeks, for a singular data point. Crazy!

Wow. That will make nursing, um, interesting... at least until he doesn't bite : ) (Mine did once or twice, but stopped when Mom yelped.)

Edited for grammar.

I'm sorry I dismissed the thought so very definitely! Wow. A tooth. Goodness me what a well behaved baby!

Strange but true! June's first tooth started poking through when she was about two months old, and she had her full set of baby teeth by the time she was 15 months. She lost them early too, starting when she was four; she's going on 6 now and all of her baby incisors are gone and mostly replaced.

Did Alex get her teeth on the early side too?

Linnea had four teeth by four months, so it doesn't seem that unusual to me! I actually preferred accelerated teething as it was all over much earlier.
