Okay. This is weird. I found the wallet, intact, in circumstances suggesting that it just fell out of my purse. But the phone is still not anywhere. I don't know what to make of any of this, I don't know if I was actually robbed (of the phone) and got off lucky because my wallet wasn't in my purse when it happened, or if in fact I just had a confluence of carelessness and lost the phone somehow. It seems unlikely, but so did finding the wallet.

I feel really strange. I don't know what to feel. I don't know if I was robbed or not. I still don't have my phone. I don't know.

Sorry to have alarmed people, unless it turns out that I was robbed of my phone. Shit. This is... I don't know.

This must be going around as [livejournal.com profile] dragonblue1964 went nuts this weekend looking for her PDA and found it hours later tucked between the seats in her truck, where she had already looked several times.

hugs and hopes the cell phone turns up. Have you tried calling it?

Poo poo.

It sucks to have a big emotional reaction and not know what you are reacting to--what to be careful about, who to be mad at. Total suck if you feel like you might be wrong in being angry and scared about something that might not actually have happened.

Nevertheless, as you know, perceived violation is experienced violation. If the phone turns up, great--I think many people been through the ick of blaming someone wrongly, and can sympathize. If it doesn't turn up...I think many of us have also been through the bit where we look around suspiciously for weeks, wondering who has our stuff, and thinking we might know.

Blurgh. Dancing tonight?

Wow. LoRe, thank you. This captures the whole mess of it perfectly. I'm not sure how you got that from my incoherent post, but you did, and it helps. Thanks.

Well. Uh. It's not like I've *been* there or anything. :-\ (Glad I wasn't just ranting to myself, though!) What a gukky feeling.

Sigh. I bet he won't, if he did swipe stuff. Which sucks all around.

Well... where did you find the wallet?

Could both have been stolen, and the thief decided (for whatever reason) to return the wallet, making it look accidental? That, for some reason, feels 'right' in my head.

BTW: do you have your cell phone protected so that you can't be forced to pay for a 30 hour call to (whereever)?

If the wallet definitely, positively "just fell out", then I'd be more inclined to think that happened to the phone, too, somehow. But if it only looks like it just feel out, it could have been a repentant or frightened thief trying to minimize possible charges.
