Not. Fucking. *Again.*
Apr. 29th, 2002 10:31 pmFor approximately the six-millionth time this winter (okay, spring), I have a cold. Sore throat, headache, chills, sniffly, the whole exhilarating bonanza. I don't know why this stuff has been hitting me again and again and again. (Um. Other than, I don't get enough sleep or enough vitamins, and I spend most days in medical clinics with large numbers of immunocompromised people. Could that be it?)
But this time, it's all Ben's fault. He was just sick with a cold, but he shook it off in a day or two. That's my plan too. I cancelled my patients tomorrow (I'm not doing them a favor by coming in sick, not with their immune systems), and I intend to spend the day on the couch, under a blanket, and (hopefully, if the package arrives when it ought) deep in Bujold's Diplomatic Immunity. And sleeping. And drinking fluids. I will kill this cold with rest and vitamin C. Strictly speaking, I'm not sick enough to stay home from work: even if I oughtn't go to the clinic, I could go in to the office and wrangle data. But I've found that taking a cold immediately to bed cuts my recovery time immensely.
And I must be healthy by Friday, for my long-awaited visit with
therealjae.
Must.

Date: 2002-04-29 07:46 pm (UTC)After this, i found myself thinking "maybe i don't want to be poly", somewhat seriously. I can't stand being sick...i usually stay sick in some way for a month or three.
But then i started taking Zoloft and went crazy, la.
Re:
Date: 2002-04-29 07:50 pm (UTC)I must say that I've spent a lot more time worrying about the transfer of colds and strep throat than I have worrying about the canonically swappable bugs. Base rates are so much higher, and all that.

And now you have dozens of partners? Wow, they should put that in the ads.

(Yes, I noticed that I didn't include the closing tag of the second mode= tag... 'twas intentional. )

Date: 2002-04-30 08:13 am (UTC)Well, I slept until 11, which is a good thing. Hopefully I'll be able to kill this thing with rest.

Yes. Or rather, I have some stuff here you could cook for you and Misha, and you could make some canned soup for me. I don't think I'll be up for solid food. But yeah, not worrying about dinner would be nice.

Date: 2002-04-30 07:27 am (UTC)(I hope you enjoy Diplomatic Immunity, too. I did.)
I've found that one of the biggest bits of helping my immune system is getting enough sleep. Though I suppose I really should consider taking vitamins, too. I'm bad about eating fruits, and only somewhat better about veggies.
(That, and I'm currently blessing having gotten a flu shot, because I have *not* gotten the horrible crud my husband's had for the last week and is only finally getting over.)
