If you've been online for more than five years? You've really got to check out today's XKCD.

Yes, OMG they nailed it so, so, sooooooooooo perfectly, with elements I'd almost forgotten about, like those animated construction signs...

That brings back memories. (Not particularly pleasant ones, either. :) )

Be sure to look at the page source for more geeky nostalgic fun. On one of the xkcd forum pages, someone said the whole thing is like looking at baby pictures of the Internet. (-:

I've read it twice and still don't get it (and have been on the 'net for 17 years). What does it refer to?

It's less the comic itself, and more the page design.

Which is /definitely/ a tribute to every bad page on Geocities /ever/.

The page design is a collection of late-90s amateur web badness, in "honor" of the closing of amateur-web-badness-hotspot Geocities.

reminds me, i need to talk to you - lots of updates about Ant but I haven't been up to posting about it. Not good, not bad, just lots and lots of confusion! what fun!

I'm sure I woke up the neighbors at midnight with my laughing. Why didn't Google pick up on this momentous moment in history?

I'm actually a little ashamed that my homepage hasn't been updated in so long that I still have a no-spam banner on it. It doesn't seem to have helped. Perhaps a few blink tags or flaming skulls probably would have been a more useful deterrent.

Gods, yes, that is *so perfect*. Love it.

And a very happy birthday to you!

Wow. Kinda reminds me of [livejournal.com profile] opportunitygrrl's page.
